+and+date+of+birth+are++printed.++Being+able+to+pull+out+the+double-sided+panels+allows+for+the++viewer+to+have+an+intimate+experience.++Originally+McQueen+left+a+lot++of+empty+spaces+in+the+cabinets+to+honor+future+soldiers%2C+but+the+160++spaces+have+now+been+filled.%0D%0A%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cp+style%3D%22margin%3A+0in+0in+0pt%3B+font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3B%22+class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3E%0D%0A%3C%2Fspan%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3E%3Cspan%3E%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cp+style%3D%22margin%3A+0in+0in+0pt%3B+font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3B%22+class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3E+%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3E%3Cspan%3EMcQuuen+quotes+that+his+biggest+challenge+has+been+%22%3C%2Fspan%3EDealing++with+the+Royal+Mail+over+Queen+and+Country%2C+which+I%27m+trying%2C+to++have+issued+as+a+set+of+official+stamps.+If+Joanna+Lumley+can+get+the++gurkhas%27+rights+honored%2C+why+can%27t+we+get+the+soldiers+who+were+killed++in+the+Iraq+war+as+simple+a+thing+as+a+stamp%3F%3C%2Fspan%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3E%3Cspan%3E%3C%2Fspan%3E%22+++Joanna+Lumely+is+an+English+actress+and+activist+who+is+best+known+for++her+support+for+Gurkhas.++They+are+the+exiled+people+and+government+of++Tibet.+She+fought+to+get+all+of+the+Gurkha+veterans+who+served+prior+to++1997+the+right+to+settle+in+Brittan.++Her+efforts+are+supported+by+the++Royal+family.%0D%0A%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cp+style%3D%22margin%3A+0in+0in+0pt%3B+font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3B%22+class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3E%0D%0A%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cp+style%3D%22margin%3A+0in+0in+0pt%3B+font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3B%22+class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3E+%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3EMcQueen+is+currently+working+with+an+organization+called++the+Art+Fund+who+support+his+vision+to+produce+the+postage+stamps+as+a++commemoration+of+the+British+servicemen+and+woman+who+have+lost+their++lives+in+the+war+in+Iraq.++They+are+spearheading+a+campaign+to+get+them++officially+issued+as+Royal+Stamps.+%3C%2Fspan%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3EThe++royal+mail+refuses+to+issue+these+postage+stamps+and+McQueen+feels+like++this+project+is++incomplete.%3C%2Fspan%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3E+%3C%2Fspan%3E%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cp+style%3D%22margin%3A+0in+0in+0pt%3B+font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3B%22+class%3D%22MsoNormal%22%3E+%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cp+style%3D%22font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3B%22%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-size%3A85%25%3B%22%3EMcqueen+felt+%3Cem%3E%27%3C%2Fem%3E%3Cem%3EAn++official+set+of+Royal+Mail+stamps+struck+me+as+an+intimate+but++distinguished+way+of+highlighting+the+sacrifice+of+individuals+in++defence+of+our+national+ideals.+The+stamps+would+focus+on+individual++experience+without++euphemism.+It+would+form+an+intimate+reflection+of+national+loss+that++would+involve+the+families+of+the+dead+and+permeate+the+everyday+%E2%80%93+every++household+and+every+office.%27%3C%2Fem%3E%0D%0A%3C%2Fspan%3E+%3C%2Fp%3E%3Cspan+style%3D%22font-family%3A+arial%2Chelvetica%2Csans-serif%3Bfont-size%3A85%25%3B%22+%3EMcQueen%27s++project+serves+mostly+as+a+salutary+memorial%2C+but+in+a+way+it%27s+also+a++quiet+protest.++Many+people+forget+about+the+war+because+it+is+not++happening+in+front+of+them+on+their+home+turf.++These+stamps+would+serve++as+an+everyday+reminder+of+what+these+men+and+women+are+doing+for+their++country.++I+see+current+issues+such+as+this+one+reminiscent+of+the+past++looking+back+at+the+Vietnam+War.++It+was+taboo+to+speak+of+it+when+a++soldier+returned+from+being+in+country+and+that+still+happens+here+in++the+US+today+with+our+soldiers+who+are+fighting+overseas.++The+war+is++being+run+right+down+the+street+from+us+at+Cent+Com+and+the+majority+of++people+don%27t+even+think+about+it+at+all%2C+much+less+having+it+serve+as+an++everyday+reminder+of+their+freedom.++These+stamps+McQueen+created+would++serve+as+an+everyday+subtle+reminder.++It%27s+the+unexpected+that+makes++you+take+notice.%3C%2Fspan%3E%3Cdiv%3E%0D%0A%3C%2Fdiv%3E
